Vineyard Church Program Focuses on Spiritual and Physical Health

By Stephanie Kane, News Producer

Vineyard Church Family Life Pastor Areli Biggers wanted to create a class for women at the church that combined exercise with spirituality. After reading the book "Running by the Book" by Corrine Baur, Biggers was inspired to base her class off of the principles of that book. The class, which is designed for women of all abilities, follows the book's 12-week guide of positive empowerment, with each week focusing on a different topic that relates the messages of bible scripture back to the challenges of exercise and pushing through adversity.

The 21 women in Biggers' class have been working extremely hard to meet the end goal of the program, to complete a 10k. At the end of the twelve weeks, the class will be participating in the AFA Veterans Fun Run in Bedford on November 9, 2013.

Although the class has been in session for a few weeks now, Biggers encourages all who are interested to still join the class, which meets Thursdays at either 9:30am or 6:30pm for cross training and on Saturday mornings for runs.
