A Win for Cross Country

By Stephanie Kane, News Producer

Both Hillers Cross Country teams came into their final home meet undefeated. So did their TVL rival Medfield. And in a meet that would move the winner into sole possession of first place in the TVL, solidifying the teams' chances of winning the division, both Hillers teams came out on top. The boys, who have never had sole possession of a TVL title in their history, cruised to a 22-35 victory. And the girls, who last won the TVL in 2010, handled their Medfield rivals 25-31.

The boys, many of whom had shaved their heads for the meet into mow-hawks as a sign of camaraderie, were led by team captain, senior Patrick Levenson. Levenson, who finished the 3 mile race in 15:55, was just one second shy of matching the school's record. The girls depth proved to be key, with 4 runners finishing in the top 6, including a second place finish by Melissa Lodge. But with the TVL championship in sight, both teams are moving on to their next challenge.
