The Hopkinton Emergency Management Group (HEMG), Town Leadership, Board of Health and Health Department met on 02/28/22 and 03/01/22. Based on Hopkinton’s current improving COVID-19 metrics, high vaccination and improving booster rates, and the percentage of residents having recovered from the Omicron variant, we have a number of new updates.

Face Covering Mandate is Rescinded as of 3/2/22 - NEW INFO
The use of face coverings in Hopkinton municipal buildings will be optional as of March 2, 2022. Face coverings are recommended for immunocompromised individuals and the unvaccinated in crowded spaces. Additional guidance from the MDPH on the use of face coverings is provided at the following link - MDPH Face Covering Guidance.

*Face coverings will continue to be required for indoor meetings within the Youth and Family Services Department.

Remote Meetings Policy - NEW INFO
Municipal departments, boards, and committees have the option to return to in-person meetings. For those that prefer a remote or hybrid option, Chapter 22 of the Acts of 2022, includes an extension until July 15, 2022, of the remote meeting provisions of the Governor's March 12, 2020, Executive Order Suspending Certain Provisions of the Open Meeting Law. Hopkinton recommends that Boards and Committees continue to offer a hybrid option wherever possible. You can find public meetings posted on Hopkinton’s Web Meeting Calendar which can be found on the Town’s website homepage, scrolling down below the “Welcome to Hopkinton” message.

Covid Prevention & Treatment
Many of the things you do to help prevent colds and the flu can help protect you against other respiratory viruses, including COVID-19:
Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
Clean things that are frequently touched (like doorknobs and countertops) with household cleaning spray or wipes.
Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. Use a tissue or your inner elbow, not your hands.
Stay home if you are sick and avoid close contact with others.
Utilize a face covering when warranted.
Get vaccinated.
