Editorial: Endorsing Loring Barnes for State Rep

I have been a resident of Hopkinton for over 25 years, raised three children in town, and have been a part of numerous town activities, as well as a couple of committees.

I am endorsing Loring Barnes for State Representative, 8th Middlesex District, for the following reasons:

1. She focuses on constituents. Loring has shown by her actions over the last few months that she is focused on working for the individual constituents of Hopkinton. You have probably seen her at Family Day, Football games, PolyArts, street corners, etc. with her "Orange Crush" message of "It's about all of Us!"

2. She is fiercely independent. Loring is a candidate that does not fit neatly into any one political party. I respect the fact that she does not feel the need to "carry the party line" on any political topic. The primary thing she cares about is what is right for all of the constituents in town. She realizes that most of us sit somewhere in the middle of the political aisle, and as such, our voices should also be heard. Not just the loudest in the room.

3. She is uniquely qualified. She has worked with local government, state government, and federal government. She is a small business owner and has raised a family in the district as well. All of this is detailed on her website.

I am voting for the candidate that will focus on state and local issues with the interests of local townspeople at the top of her priority list. That candidate is Loring Barnes. I hope you will take a look and consider her as well.
