On October 18, residents of Hopkinton and surrounding communities will join millions of Americans across the country in a nationwide day of nonviolent protest at the second No Kings Day of Action. The Hopkinton protest will take place from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm on the north side of the Town Common. Participants are encouraged to bring their own signs, flags, and banners.
“Our rights were never given to us; they were won. Generations of Americans have fought to secure fundamental freedom and dignity for all of us,” said Parmelee Eastman, Hopkinton organizer from Indivisible. “Now President Trump is trying to rule like a dictator, and we the people are going to make sure the world knows that in America, we have no kings.”
On June 14 of this year, more than five million people across all 50 states joined No Kings in the largest single-day protest yet against President Trump’s authoritarianism. The October 18 day of action is the next step in this growing movement, channeling that energy into yet another coordinated, peaceful mobilization. Thousands of events have been scheduled nationwide, with new events added daily.
All No Kings events adhere to a shared commitment to nonviolent protest and community safety. Peacekeepers trained in de-escalation will be present. We expect all participants to respect the nonviolent nature of this protest and to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
