The Treasurer's Office can also mail the forms to those who call 508-497-9715 to request an application.

The deadline for submitting applications for assistance from the Senior and Disabled Tax Relief Fund is Wednesday, March 1.

The Hopkinton Tax Relief Committee will be reviewing applications in March and will distribute funds based on the number of qualified applicants and the total funding available.

The Senior and Disabled Tax Relief Fund, overseen by the Hopkinton Tax Relief Committee, was established in 1998 to provide financial assistance to residents in the payment of their real estate taxes. The fund is supported solely by donations from residents and organizations with no financial support from the Town budget.

"This is really a neighbor-helping-neighbor program," said Committee Chair Sue Kurys. "It offers a way for the community to come together to help make living in Hopkinton a little more affordable for our most vulnerable residents. It not only provides an opportunity for financial support, but also lets these residents know they are a valued part of the community."

Over recent years, the Fund has been able to distribute a total of $10,000-$20,000 in property tax relief credits each year. It has provided more than 100 awards over the last five years.

“The Hopkinton Tax Relief Committee works to connect residents and groups who are willing and able to contribute, which allows the Senior and Disabled Tax Relief Fund to directly help Hopkinton families in need," said Town Manager Norman Khumalo

Added Select Board Chair Amy Ritterbusch: “The Hopkinton community has been very generous in voting for provisions to support seniors with low incomes and residents with disabilities. Inflation is really impacting some of our families, and the Tax Relief Fund is an important program that can help seniors with low incomes and households living with disability remain in our community.”
