Jane E. (Forsey) Dunphy, 96

WESTBOROUGH – Jane E. (Forsey) Dunphy, 96, died Monday, April 28, 2025 after a period of declining health.  She was the wife of the late, Richard J. Dunphy, to whom she was married for 53 years.  Born in Charlton, MA, she was the daughter of the late George and Estella (Congdon) Forsey.  Her family moved to Westborough when she was a baby and she remained a resident for her entire life.

Jane was a 1947 graduate of Westborough High School and received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in education from Worcester State University.  She worked as an elementary school teacher in Worcester for 38 years.

After retirement in 1990, she enjoyed spending time at her house on Cape Cod as well as traveling throughout the world with her husband Dick. After Dick’s death in 2005, she moved to the Willows in Westborough, where she remained a resident for the remainder of her life.

Jane was an avid sports fan.  She was most passionate about college basketball but also loved her Red Sox and Patriots.  She also cherished Westborough High School sports and was a regular at many sporting events over the years.

She is survived by her daughters Jill Dunphy of Elmira, NY and Elizabeth Cronin and her husband Thomas of Hopkinton, MA.  In addition, she leaves her grandsons Stephen Cronin of Sayerville, NJ and Michael Cronin and his wife Emily of Arlington, MA.

Jane’s family wishes to extend gratitude to all the people who gave her care over the past several months, but especially to Kathryn Colbath of Westborough, who provided exemplary care and truly made all the difference in Jane’s last days.

Private funeral arrangements, entrusted to the Callanan Cronin Funeral Home, Hopkinton, and are at the convenience of the family.
