Live4Evan Announces First Independently Operated Housing Property

Live4Evan announces the opening of their first independently-operated housing property in the Longwood medical area. The Hopkinton-based 501(c)(3) organization raises funds to provide temporary housing for families whose children are being treated for Congenital Heart Disease at Boston area hospitals.
Live4Evan has provided apartment space in partnership with hospitals over the past years, however this latest endeavor represents a new chapter for the organization as it provides opportunities to work directly with families. Housing Operations Director Barbara Girardi notes that, “our long-standing goal has always been to offer stress-free housing. We want to create apartments that have all the amenities of a home and allow families to remain close to their child during such a critical time. It’s a truly incredible feeling for Live4Evan to be able to offer this. We are hopeful that there will be many more to come.”

The apartment, located near the intersection of Huntington and Longwood avenues, has been fully furnished through a generous donation by Cort Furniture of Boston and is designed to function as a “home away from home” for residents. The first family to live there is from New York and their expected length of stay is 8 weeks. They are awaiting the birth of their child who will have hypoplastic left heart syndrome and will need surgery once he is born. Being close to the medical team is essential for this family and Live4Evan is grateful to be able to provide that.

Live4Evan thanks all of their generous sponsors for their support in making this dream become a reality and is grateful to be able to provide housing for families affected by Congenital Heart Disease. For more information, visit live4evan.org.
