Marie C. McInerney, 93, of Hopkinton, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Milford Regional Medical Center. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Bernadette and John J. McInerney.
Marie grew up in Brazil and had a background in psychology and special education. In her younger years, she was a tennis champion with her sister and also enjoyed horseback riding.
Marie cared deeply about helping others. She volunteered with the blind and gave her time to several organizations, including a suicide prevention hotline. She was also a member of the Hopkinton Senior Center. Marie loved animals and especially cherished her beloved dog, Duffy, who preceded her in death.
She was predeceased by her brother, John T. McInerney, her sister, Jean McInerney, and her fiancé of 40 years, Richard E. Gilgun.
