Mary M. (Hally) Lauzon, a dedicated advocate for children and a respected educator, passed away on January 4, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. A resident of Hopkinton, Massachusetts for 33 years, Mary moved to Windermere, Florida following her retirement to begin a vibrant new chapter of her life.
Mary was the beloved daughter of the late John E. and Mary T. (Ward) Hally, and the sister of the late John M. Hally. She shared a wonderful life with her husband, John M. Lauzon, to whom she was married for more than fifty years. Together, they built a foundation of love and faith that extended through generations. Mary was the devoted mother of Mary M. Corredor and the loving “Grammy” of Ana-Lucia Corredor, who was a source of immense pride and joy. Her family circle was filled with deep affection; she was the dear sister-in-law of Susan and John Frost and the cherished aunt of Jessica (Frost) Castro, Christopher Frost, Kathleen Hally, and the late John E. Hally. She was also the proud great-aunt of Philip Castro.
Mary’s professional career spanned over thirty-five years, during which she became a leading voice in Special Education law and compliance. After earning her B.A. cum laude from Framingham State University and her M.Ed. from Boston University, she began her journey as a teacher at the Boston School for the Deaf in Randolph, Massachusetts. Following her marriage, she served as a Speech and Language Clinician and eventually rose to become the Assistant Administrator of Special Education for the Natick Public Schools. Her leadership skills further propelled her into vital administrative roles, notably serving as the Administrator of Special Education and Support Services for the Plainville, Massachusetts Public Schools. Mary was renowned for her active mentorship, her development of essential preschool programs, and her unwavering commitment to ensuring every student received the support necessary for success. In her later years, she served as a Special Education Complaint Investigator for the New Hampshire Department of Education, where she ensured fairness and integrity within school systems.
Beyond her professional life, Mary possessed a spirit of service and a love for her community. From 2009 to 2020, Mary was a proud Cast Member of Walt Disney World, embracing the opportunity to bring smiles to visitors from around the world. Beginning in 2008, she volunteered at Give Kids the World Village as a welcoming presence at the airport while greeting families arriving for their “wish” vacations.
Mary possessed the rare combination of an analytical mind and the soft heart of a caregiver. She believed in facts and evidence, but she believed in people more. Her legacy lives on in the thousands of lives she touched through her work, her volunteerism, and her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Acting Out Theater Company in Lawrence, Massachusetts, 60 Island Street, Lawrence, MA 01840) to honor Mary’s devotion to the place where her beloved Ana-Lucia first stepped onto the stage. Grammy was part of the Acting Out family and was happiest when sitting in the audience watching her granddaughter do what she loved.
A funeral Mass and celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Local funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Callanan Cronin Funeral Home.
