My name is Jon Graziano, and I am running for School Committee. My wife, Erin, and I moved to Hopkinton two years ago. As the parents of three young children (ages 6, 4 and 1), one of the primary reasons we were attracted to the town was the school system, and our experience so far has validated that decision. Over the past year I have been the Appropriations Committee liaison to the School Committee.

Local artists from Creative Insight Studio, together with Hopkinton artists from Women Unraveled are pleased to announce their collaborative exhibition “Form & Fiber”. Hosted by the Ashland Public Library, “Form & Fiber” will showcase sculptural pieces made by the artists of Creative Insight Studio together with contemporary fiber art by Women Unraveled. The show will feature many recent works including group challenges and individually motivated pieces inspired by each artist’s singular vision.

My name is Mary Murphy and I am supporting Jean Bertschmann for School Committee because she is a hard worker and has a wealth of history and knowledge about the Hopkinton schools. With 4 children (often spanning one in each school), she didn’t just sit back and watch things happen- she got involved!

I worked with Jean when we both served on the HHS School Council. I have observed her to be a level headed, thoughtful leader. She has a quiet way of listening and educating herself and others on the needs of our town.

I am writing to endorse Jean Bertschmann for re-election for School Committee. I have
known Jean for over ten years. We met when our daughters were in kindergarten
together. She has been a friend and someone I have worked with in several capacities
over the years. I was able to see Jean in action as she led the HPTA. She was forward-
thinking, innovative, approachable and very dedicated. She attended all the events,
whether she needed to or not, just to show her support. I became active with the SPEAC

Election Day in Hopkinton is Monday, May 21, 2012. Are you ready? Do you know who's running for office? The Annual Women's Club "Meet the Candidates" night is this Wednesday, April 25th at 7PM in the HCAM studio. Come and find out who's running for open positions on several town boards and committees, learn where the candidates stand on the issues facing Hopkinton and what they feel are the top priorities that need to be addressed.

This year marks the 200th birthday of Charles Dickens, whose book ‘Oliver Twist’ raised awareness about London’s notorious workhouses for poor children.

When Hopkinton Middle School students present “Oliver!,” themusical based on “Oliver Twist,” they will honor Dickens’ spirit through aneffort to help Project Just Because, a Hopkinton-based charity that helpsfamilies in need.

The 4th Annual Auction, sponsored by St. John the Evangelist Youth Ministry, takes place this Saturday, April 28th from 6PM to 10PM in the Parish Hall. The auction is a major fundraiser for the Youth Ministry and proceeds help to raise funds for programs such as summer mission trips, leadership conferences, retreat experiences and scholarships.

Retailers, restaurants, cultural institutions and recreational areas in nineteen communities throughout the MetroWest region of Massachusetts will be holding scores of promotions and special events for visitors and local residents alike from May 26 to June 3 during a new, region-wide program, “Shop & Explore MetroWest,” launched by the MetroWest Tourism & Visitors Bureau.

The next meeting of the Hopkinton Planning Board is scheduled for Monday, April 23, 2012 at 7:30PM in Room 211 at Town Hall. Included on the agenda for the evening is a Major Site Plan Review for Perkin Elmer for a proposed 60,000 sq. ft. addition to 68 Elm Street location and a 25,000 sq. ft. addition to 5 Parkwood
Drive, and associated increases in parking lot area at each building.
