A Hopkinton Special Town Meeting took place on Monday, October 26th. View a text & video recap below!
In Article 1 the Town Charter review committee was seeking approval of reports and recommendations. Article 2 took care of unpaid bills and passed. Article 3 and 4 took care of budget appropriations & transfers and both passed with ease.
Article 5 which altered the 2027 operating budget passed unanimously. Article 6 & 7 also passed quickly. Article 8 looked to have the town accept maintenance duties to some current private roadways and failed. Article 9 looked for snow & ice maintenance on private roadways.
Article 10 was for an increase to repair limit of Private Way repair service. The article was amended from $100,000 to $2,000 and passed 113 to 49. Article 11 looked for the town to create a bylaw review committee. The Article failed 41 to 103. Article 12 seeked to change the day of Town meeting amongst some other bylaws. No action on the article passed unanimously.
Article 13 seeked to give a weekday requirement to the annual Town meeting rather than a weekend day. The article failed 55 to 72. Following the vote on article 13 a quorum check was called and fell 4 votes short of the required 131 voter quorum which led to the dissolvement of the Special Town Meeting.
