HCAM Staff Producer
The Staff Producer (SP) provides our viewers with a wide window into all aspects of life in Hopkinton. In this capacity the SP works in all phases of television production; in-studio, remote, live, and edited.
Responsibilities include:
- Producing – Production of a minimum 5 hours per week of original HCAM programming. These programs are in-the-field and in-studio productions, encompassing all aspects of life in the Hopkinton Community. Some examples are: HPTA events, community lectures, scout meetings or gatherings, interview programs, public demonstrations, arts and culture activities, parades, school events and sports, etc.
- Governmental Meetings – The SP covers 1 governmental meeting per week (the committees and boards covered rotate). In addition to recording the meeting, the SP writes a summary of the main points of the meeting for our website news feed.
- Other duties – as assigned.
Skills Required:
- People skills. The SP creates and maintains good working relations with the residents of Hopkinton, and represents HCAM in a positive, professional manner.
- Production Skills. The SP has quality skills in all areas of television production; camera work, audio and lighting management, and editing.
- Time Management Skills. The SP is organized, ensuring that activities within our community are identified, covered, and professionally presented and promoted.
Information Overlap:
Staff Producer is a position that touches upon all aspects of life in Hopkinton, and intersects most other positions at HCAM. The SP coordinates and works with volunteer Crew members of HCAM, who are a good resource for expanding coverage possibilities. The SP oversees all technical aspects of the programs produced.
Hours:
The position of Staff Producer is full-time, 40 hours per week. The schedule varies as required by the various events and activities that occur. Days may be 9-5, 3-11, split shifts, or weekends. It is expected that the SP will work five, eight-hour days.
Requirements:
1) College degree in broadcast and film, mass communications, or related.
2) Prior production experience in a television environment.
