HCA to host John Oates in Concert

By contributor,
John Oates

Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) is thrilled to welcome Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and American Songwriter Hall of Fame artist John Oates, as this year’s HCA Celebrity Spotlight artist. The Celebrity Spotlight is HCA's premiere annual fundraiser of the year.

This acoustic, one on one performance touches on the roots of American pop music from pre rock and roll to the present woven together with fascinating insight and humor. Performing million selling hits from the past as well as new songs framed with the backstories of how they were written, Oates takes the audience on an intimate sonic journey that has been described as: “Musically sophisticated, carefully crafted and thoroughly entertaining”.

Last year's spotlight artist was the iconic Judy Collins. HCA Executive Director Kelly Grill notes, "In 2021, we decided to transition from the standard gala-type fundraiser to an annual celebrity concert. The goal is to invite a music celebrity to Hopkinton for everyone in the Metrowest area and beyond to enjoy. The money raised from the concert provides vital funding for ongoing HCA programs and scholarships."

This year's HCA Celebrity Spotlight event with John Oates will take place on Saturday, September 9th. HCA is offering two levels of tickets for this event. There is a general admission ticket for those who are interested in just attending the concert. HCA is also offering a VIP ticket experience that includes tapas style dinner, open bar, exclusive access to sound check with John Oates where he will perform two songs and answer questions, a VIP dessert lounge and reserved front section seating. HCA will also be auctioning off a custom-built guitar by Morrisiey guitars signed by John himself.
