Janet I. Hawkins, 58, lost her courageous battle with liver cancer on February 11, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Norwood. She was diagnosed in September 2012 and badly wanted to beat the cancer and live.

Born in Framingham on December 10, 1954, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Doris A. (Leland) Smith. She worked in Medical Records at Sudbury Pines Extended Care for over 10 years. More recently, she worked at Kindred Hospital in Natick until her illness.

Janet enjoyed country music, dancing, flea markets and shopping. An animal lover, she was very fond of her cat Raja. Her greatest joy in life was her daughter Amanda. She had a generous spirit and an engaging personality. She will be sadly missed and never forgotten by her family and friends.

Besides her daughter Amanda, she leaves four brothers, William S. Smith and his wife Carol of Auburn, Gary Smith and his wife Barbara of Franklin, Mark Smith and his wife Haley of Norwood and Paul Smith of Milford. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
