On Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5, the Hopkinton Public Library was transformed into a miniature golf course where 200 children and families teed off to raise money for the renovation and expansion of the Library. We were pleased to have both State Representative Carolyn Dykema and Selectman John Mosher stop by to play the course! This unique fundraiser, generously sponsored by Hallmark Sotheby’s International Realty, raised $1,250 for the Library expansion project. With Hopkinton’s $4.5 million state library construction grant expected as soon as July 2014, Hopkinton voters will be asked to approve funding for the Library at the May 5 Town Meeting and May 19 Town Election.

Golfers teed off on the first hole in the Children’s Room amid the picture books, playing the next four holes through the stacks of books for early readers. Golfers then made their way downstairs to hit shots in the Young Adult hallway and continued into the Main Reading Room where water hazards and sand traps awaited. The course finished up on the 15th hole in front of the Library’s movie collection. Children proudly posted their “hole-in-one” and “hole-in-two” shots, writing comments such as “fun,” “awesome,” and “fantastic” on the Mini-Golf Wall of Fame.

Hopkinton Public Library Foundation sincerely thanks all those who hit the links for the Library, Hallmark Sotheby’s for its sponsorship, and Joe Buckley of Mobile Mini Golf for setting up a fun and unique course, making the most of the space our small Library offers!
