Good Morning Everyone,

Just had the opportunity to spend a couple of wonderful days down at Harwich to attend the 2016 MIAA GIRLS STATE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP. They’re was 27 young ladies competing for the Individual State Title and 6 Girls Teams for the TEAM Title. These girls all had to qualify at DISTRICT sites last week to make it to this final competition. It was played at the beautiful and very difficult Eastward Ho Golf Course in Orleans/Harwich area of the Cape. I am so happy to report our only freshmen young lady , ABBY JAYE , played a practice round on Monday at the course and then yesterday shot a great round of 83 on this very difficult par 72 course. She ended coming in 6th place in her first Girls State Championship which was so great. The low score was shot by a freshmen girl from Agawam with an incredible score of 72. Only 3 girls in the competition broke 80. Abby really did our HHS Golf Team Program proud for her great play these last two weeks in the girls state competition. I couldn’t be prouder of her great play and she’s looking forward to working real hard on her game this summer and play in some girls tournaments to get even better. She had some troubles on the greens this past week or she would have broken 80 in both tournaments. I am looking forward to the fall season when Abby makes a great impact for our golf team and watch out TVL opponents this season. What comes with her great finish this past week is an invite to play in the New England Girls Championship at Bretton Woods Golf Club in New Hampshire on June 22nd. I also was informed yesterday that Abby has been selected on the BOSTON GLOBE ALL GIRLS SCHOLASTIC TEAM for this spring. She will go down to the Globe this week and have her picture taken and be honored in the Globe in the next few weeks!! Congrats to a very talented young lady and her very supported parents, Allison and Gary Jaye , who walked and attended both of these tournaments and the practice rounds this past week. Abby will also have the opportunity to play at the very private BOSTON CLUB this Sunday with Kimberly Donovan, Kim was a member of the 2003 & 2004 State Championship Teams for HHS. She received a four year golf scholarship to the National Champion Duke University.

I received our TVL golf schedule last week and we begin our season on Thursday, Sept. 1st with an excellent Westwood team at HCC. The Hillers will be making a run at our 4th TVL title in a row. Westwood will be coming to HCC on that Thursday right after we make our final selections for the Varsity and JV teams. They have probably the best Jr. golfer in the state this year with their Junior player Will Frodigh. We’ll be ready the wolverines as our team will be working on their golf games all summer.

Just a reminder to get your entry forms in for the August 8th HHS Golf Team Fundraiser @ HCC. Enjoy the nice weather ahead and our HHS golf teammates should be calling each other to play some golf and some Junior tournaments around the New England area.
