Video: Pre-Marathon Festivities in Hopkinton

Last week was Marathon Madness in Hopkinton as numerous events occurred prior to the 120th running of the Boston Marathon. The first Woman to ever complete the Marathon, Bobbi Gibb was in Hopkinton as one of the many celebrations of the 50th anniversary since she became the first female to ever cross the Boston Marathon finish line. She talked about her story to a packed house at the Hopkinton Country Club.

Five runners from China were welcomed at Hopkinton High School. Hopkinton Mandarin and Chinese students performed dances and music to welcome the runners. 26.2 Foundation Chair, Michael Neece stated that a whole bunch of organizations came together for the welcoming celebration; "It was a spark of an idea that was given to the School Superintendent... then a whole bunch of organizations came together that included; Golden Pond, Dynasty Restaurant, the entire Chinese community in Hopkinton and a whole bunch of other organizations came together including the 26.2 foundation to put on this event."

Also last week, Hopkinton Middle School hosted their annual desire to inspire 2.62 mile run or walk in which the students completed the annual course around the school.
