A successful Hopkinton Veterans Breakfast on March 4th

The Troop Goes Marching On ...

On Friday, 4 March 2022, another successful Veterans Breakfast was hosted at the Hopkinton Senior Center. With support from MetroWest Veterans Services, 'Dunkin, and the Garden Club, about 4-dozen veterans and friends gathered for good chow and camaraderie. The main theme was hearing about Hopkinton veterans past and present. Exploits of specific Hopkinton veterans of WW II and the Viet Nam conflict were examined.

According to the DPW weather station, the highest temperature reached in Hopkinton Feb 28th through March 6th was 64.1 degrees, the lowest was 8.3 degrees. Average temperature during the week in Hopkinton was 31.9 degrees. Humidity was at an average of 64%, the peak was 96% while the lowest was 28%. Rain accumulated 0.31 inches last week. Community Notice: Quarterly PFAS notification

Our water system received notification of PFAS6 results showing that our system violated the 20 ng/L PFAS6 Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) drinking water standard during the October – December 2021 compliance period with a quarterly average of 26 ng/L at the Fruit St. Pump Station. The quarterly average of PFAS6 has ranged between 22 and 26 ng/L since Quarter 3, 2021 to date and our system will continue to notify consumers every 3 months with updated information as required.

We are partnering with Eversource to raise awareness of additional fuel assistance funds available from the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program to help pay energy bills. This includes federal weatherization funds to reduce energy bills by making your home more energy efficient. To apply for Fuel Assistance, please contact your local community action agency or find your agency at Mass211.org.

Apply Now for Marathon Committee Scholarship

The Hopkinton Marathon Committee is giving away Six, Twelve Hundred Dollar ($1,200) Scholarships to Hopkinton Residents/High School Graduating Seniors that are accepted to a 2 or 4 year college or university and has lettered in at least one varsity sport in high school. Application deadline is Friday, April 15, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. and must be delivered or mailed to: Hopkinton Town Hall, 18 Main Street, Hopkinton, MA 01748,

The 26.2 foundation gave a glimpse on what to expect with the soon to be built, international marathon center.

"Terry Healy, co-founder and design principal for the multidisciplinary design firm, HealyKohler, of Washington, D.C, led through a presentation of the state-of-the-art, interactive exhibits that a guest will experience when they visit the IMC."

Three-Alarm Hopkinton Fire Caused by Smoking Materials

HOPKINTON—A three-alarm fire on Mayhew Street started with the improper disposal of smoking materials, Hopkinton Fire Chief William R. Miller and State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey said.

“As spring approaches, we see more people coming out of the house to smoke on porches and stairways,” said Chief Miller. “There’s no safe way to smoke, but if you must smoke then be sure to use a sturdy ashtray with water or sand. Too many home fires start when smoking materials are stubbed out on a railing or stairway, or flicked into a planter or mulch.”
