Hopkinton Veterans' Breakfast September 6th 2019

By contributor,

Local veterans will be gathering for breakfast on 6 September 2019, at 0900 hours at the Hopkinton Senior Center. The monthly tribute is highlighted by great chow and warm camaraderie.

The agenda comprises a remembrance of comrades who passed-away in the previous month, and recognizing those who are on "Sick Call." This provides an opportunity to be generous with our time to visit and/or send cards and notes to our ailing comrades. More of us should do this.

On Friday, August 16, 2019, a human case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) was confirmed in a young adult resident of Grafton, Massachusetts. This was the second case of EEE in Massachusetts in 2019. In response, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MADPH) raised the EEE risk rating in Hopkinton and 11 surrounding communities to Critical, and the Town of Hopkinton quickly issued a Press Release and a Code Red general notice that same day, with information about EEE and what the increased risk rating meant.
