The previous Hopkinton Public Library Adult Services Librarian, Heather Backman is now the Director of the Library. One of the first moves of the newly appointed director was opening the brand new renovated and expanded library and now to kick off the new year an addition has been made to the staff. Hopkinton Public Library welcomed their new Adult Services Librarian this past week, Jessi McCarthy. K-9 Dali Welcomed to the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office

BILLERICA, Mass. – The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office has officially welcomed the newest member of its K-9 Unit to the department.

K-9 Dali, a two-year-old Belgian Malinois from Georgia, began work at the end of November. Dali, who is partnered with Lieutenant Mike Kelley, was obtained through a grant from Dogs for Law Enforcement.

Dali is a dual purpose K-9, having completed courses with the MBTA Transit Police K-9 Training Unit for patrol and explosives detection.

Senator Spilka Hosts Discussion of Social-Emotional Learning in MetroWest Schools

ASHLAND, MA – On Tuesday, January 9th, Senator Karen E. Spilka (D-Ashland) will host a forum with the Rennie Center for Education Research & Policy about social-emotional learning (SEL). The conversation will highlight the work of exSEL: Excellence through Social-Emotional Learning, a network bringing together school districts across Massachusetts to design and implement policies and practices that promote SEL.

Community Notice: Trash Collection Delayed 1 Day

Due to the winter storm, there was no trash collection on Thursday 1/4/18.

Prior to the initial announcement that was posted Wednesday alerting residents of no trash collection on Thursday - trash collection for this week was already delayed 1 day due to the New Year's day Holiday on Monday. Due to no trash collection on Thursday - all remaining trash collection for this week is delayed one additional day.

This means that if your regularly scheduled trash collection day is Wednesday, your trash is being collected today (Fri 1/5)

Community Notice: Please Help Keep Hydrants Clear

The Water Department requests your assistance, in maintaining accessibility to the town's 700 fire hydrants, for the safety and protection of everyone. During the winter hydrants can become buried by snow during a storm. If you have a fire hydrant that that is near your home, please help us make it visible and accessible to the Fire Department for use in an emergency. Precious seconds can be lost searching for the hydrant or removing snow to gain access to it. Help make your neighborhood safe for everyone!
