For many years, the Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) has annually recognized the running of the Boston Marathon with exhibitions and programming. In honor of the 126th race, HCA has invited curators Kris Waldman and Arthur Dion to present an exhibition entitled Coverage: The Boston Marathon As Reported by The Boston Globe. This exhibition will include a collection of curated marathon images through the lens of The Boston Globe, now celebrating its 150th year of publication.

How has Boston’s oldest newspaper covered the world’s oldest marathon? How has the expanding population of competitors been depicted over the years? How has the newspaper’s visual presentation of the race evolved? Drawing from the Globe’s archives, Coverage presents a historical landscape of blown-up images reporting the race from its April 1897 debut through the pandemic rescheduled race in October 2021.

Coverage: The Boston Marathon As Reported by The Boston Globe exhibition will be on display in the HCA's Lotvin Family Gallery from March 11 through April 23. The gallery, located at 98 Hayden Rowe St in Hopkinton, is open and free to visit during HCA's normal business hours. A public reception is scheduled for Friday, March 18 from 6 to 7 pm. Waldman, formerly HCA’s co-director, and Dion, director emeritus of Boston’s Gallery NAGA, produced Coverage with printing assistance by Art and Frame Emporium of Westborough and sponsorship by The Boston Globe.
