“The things that make me boldly different, make me beautiful!” This is the theme that artists worldwide were asked to explore when submitting a piece for “The Bold & Beautiful Show”. Curated by artist Jamaal Eversley, this art exhibition is all about embracing one’s differences and displaying confidence in our individual uniqueness.

The participating artists dared to be bold as they produced and submitted work that focused on their distinctive and recognizable personality traits. The mutual goal being to connect, heal and grow together.

The Bold and Beautiful Show will be on display at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) in the Lotvin Family Gallery from July 19th to August 26th. Located at 98 Hayden Rowe Street in Hopkinton, admission to the gallery is always free to the public. For more details, go to www.hopartscenter.org

The Bold & Beautiful Show will then see another iteration in September, linking today’s talents to tomorrow’s boldest and brightest artists. Eversley received grants from Hopkinton, Milford, Ashland and Hopedale Cultural Councils to work with high school students in order to create artwork that represents who they are. He motivated them to be bold enough to be themselves and gave them the challenge to exhibit this through the work they submit. Through the summer vacation, Jamaal will take these teens’ artworks, prep and frame them to be exhibition ready. By the beginning of September, these works will be interspersed amongst the already standing Bold & Beautiful Show, providing a space for teens voices to be heard and valued.

Eversley will donate a portion of the profits to an award fund that will be given to the boldest students who submitted art. Eversley, along with art faculties from Hopkinton, Milford, Ashland and Hopedale High Schools and Sarah Alexander, art director of the HCA, has been dedicated to motivating and inspiring these teens to find their inner voice through art and to celebrate the spirit that is found in their communities.

The show highlights that we all have something important to say; that we need to express it in a positive way and that we are listening and believing in one another!
