The Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting The Rust of Us exhibition in the Lotvin Family Gallery from June 19–July 15, 2022. There will be a public reception to meet the artists on July 1 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Featuring the photographs of Mark Mercer, and the paintings of Christopher Plunkett. Two artists, one a painter, one a photographer, both keen observers of their surroundings, have a conversation through their work. Noted works are Plunkett’s vendor series created from his experience as a Red Sox vendor at Fenway Park, and Mercer’s vintage rusty details of old cars and trucks.

“The Rust of Us speaks to finding the beauty in the forgotten, and how powerful the elements can be.” — Mark Mercer

“Alongside the vendor paintings is my most common influence: city and landscape. My aim in merging these two distinctly different subjects is to find a common thread of stylistic approaches that complement not only each other, but also the work of Mercer. The Rust of Us speaks to the infinite flow of time, and how we spend it, how we navigate it, and what we leave behind.” — Chris Plunkett
