2017 Arts in Bloom Exhibit Winners Announced at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts.

The Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) announces the prizewinners of its 2017 Arts in Bloom Exhibit. More than 100 works were submitted and 41 were selected to be a part of the exhibit selected by guest juror Mim Brooks Fawcett, Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Attleboro Arts Museum. The assembled works represent a variety of media, including painting, photography, sculpture, mosaic, ceramics, and tapestry. Prizewinners were announced at a public reception on Thursday, May 25 at the HCA Gallery. Arts in Bloom will be on display in the HCA’s new gallery space at 98 Hayden Rowe St. through June 22. During the first week on view artwork will be accompanied by one-of-a-kind floral arrangements created by the Hopkinton Garden Club. For more information, visit www.hopartscenter.org.

“Those works that were selected for exhibition are on display because of their striking technique, or distinct concept, or – what I refer to as – an unconventional spark.  That spark can be something as quiet as a gentle blossom that, although demur, conquers the page – or as effervescent as oversized poppies that burst with vibrant color and form,” Fawcett said.

“As Mother Nature is busy delivering her gifts of springtime color and warmth outdoors, it is wonderfully fitting to have the Hopkinton Center for the Arts’ gallery in full bloom with such a lush and impressive collection of art”.
