The Hopkinton School Committee is pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement with Dr. Carol Cavanaugh to serve as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development. Dr. Cavanaugh will assume the Assistant Superintendent position as of June 1, 2016. The Committee unanimously supports her appointment, and authorized the Superintendent, Dr. Cathy MacLeod, to enter into negotiations with Dr. Cavanaugh and execute a contract within stated parameters, which has been successfully completed.

Dr. Cavanaugh holds a Ph.D. in Middle and High School Literacy Strategies from Lesley University, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching from Boston University. Her undergraduate degree was in English, and was also awarded from Boston University.

She is currently the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment at the Uxbridge Public Schools, and an Adjunct Professor at Worcester State and Lesley Universities. She is a founding partner in Brunell and Cavanaugh Consulting, an education consulting business. She has previously served as an English Teacher/Department Chair and Assistant Principal for the Westborough Public Schools, and began her career in education as an English teacher and Department Chair in the Auburn Public Schools.
Dr. MacLeod has begun transition planning with Dr. Cavanaugh; this includes Dr. Cavanaugh occasionally working in the district prior to her start date to meet with the Administrative team and faculty, and acquaint herself with our community. We look forward to welcoming Dr. Cavanaugh to the Hopkinton Public Schools, and eagerly anticipate her contributions to our district.
