The planning has begun and the holiday happenings in Hopkinton will be here before you know it! To kick off the season’s festivities, the Hopkinton Girl Scouts will once again be partnering with Hopkinton Parks and Recreation for the annual Holiday Caroling on the Common/Tree Lighting on Saturday, December 3 at 4pm.

Mark your calendars and come on down to the Town Common to enjoy the caroling, with hot chocolate and cookies provided by Hopkinton Parks and Recreation. Watch the lighting of the tree, visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, or write a letter to Santa.

Attendees are encouraged to support the Hopkinton Girl Scout Troops that will be fundraising at the event. Toys for Tots will be collecting safe unwrapped toys and One Warm Coat will be back to collect coats and boots.

“We encourage everyone to attend this fun, old fashioned event to kick-off the holiday season,” said Lee Burns, the Girl Scout Event Coordinator.

The Hopkinton High School Chorus and the St. John's Children's Choir will perform and there will be a sing-a-long led by guitarist Ed Baumann and performer Lynn Maginnis.

The Hopkinton Pubic Library will also be celebrating as it presents the 7th Annual Family Holiday Program. The library program takes place on Saturday, December 3 as well, but from 2:30 to 4:00 pm, leaving time to join the carolers on the Common when you’re finished.

There will be a story time for children with Mrs. “K”, in addition to performances by Four Guys in Tuxes and Tone Def, singing holiday classics and taking requests for your favorite holiday song.

While there is no formally organized Holiday Stroll this year, many of the local businesses will be holding their own events, so be sure to stop by and check them out.
