In an email sent to parents on June 14, 2011, Hopkinton's incoming Superintendent of Schools Jonathan Landman extends an invitation to a conversation about Hopkinton's schools.
Dear Hopkinton Parents, Guardians and Students:
On July 1, my tenure as Superintendent of the Hopkinton Public Schools begins. I can't wait!
I am thrilled to be joining the outstanding HPS team. I am inspired by the district's vision for 21st century learning; by the tremendous growth in performance the system has achieved over the last ten years; by the many awards and honors earned by Hopkinton's students; by the expert and thoughtful educators I've already encountered in the system; and by the remarkable commitment to education which the community has demonstrated over the years.
Over time, Hopkinton will get a sense of my leadership style. I love working with parents, students and community members to keep schools strong and make them better, and look forward to working with many of you in the months and years to come. I will strive to earn and keep the trust of the community, and thus to ensure that support for education is sustained or enhanced.
As your new Superintendent, there will be much for me to learn, and so I ask for your input, support and patience. My learning begins with listening. I invite each of you to come and share your thoughts about the history, the current state, and potential future of the schools with me at some point over the summer or fall. I am also happy to share my thinking about education. To start with, I have scheduled the following two conversation opportunities in the first half of July. All are invited and donated light refreshments will be provided.
• Thursday, July 7th @ 6:00 PM, Central Office Conference Room, 89 Hayden Rowe
• Monday, July 11th @ 12:00 Noon-2:00pm, Hopkins School Library

Depending upon the level of mid-summer interest (I recognize that in July and August, school is not everyone's focus!), I will either continue to use email to announce additional times for conversations as the summer progresses, or plan for opportunities at the close of the summer and in the early fall. Hopefully, many of you will join me at one of these conversations.
