Baypath Humane Society is pleased to host its next free pet talk, “Click to Calm,” led by veteran Canine Behavior Training Consultant Emma Parsons. To be held from 10AM-noon, Sunday, February 24, 2018 at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, this workshop is an opportunity for pet owners to learn proven techniques for humanely, safely, and effectively teaching dogs that are fearful or over-reactive to people or other dogs.

Dogs who pull, bark, or lunge at others are often doing so out of fear. Through clicker training, it is possible to shape a dog's emotion from one of fear and uncertainty to one of courage and confidence.

Baypath Humane Society began hosting free talks for the community in 2014, bringing in experts to help improve the lives of our companion animals, teach positive reinforcement skills, and support critical animal welfare legislation. Middlesex Savings Bank, a longtime supporter of Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton, has graciously sponsored numerous Baypath talks, including the latest workshops. “We are so thankful to Middlesex Savings Bank for their generosity,” said Baypath Humane Society Executive Director Elizabeth Jefferis. “Their ongoing support enables us to bring valuable information to help families and their pets live happier, healthier lives together.

“We’re incredibly fortunate to have Emma Parsons lead our next workshop,” said Jefferis. “She has an incredible reputation for helping dogs and their families, and we’re thrilled she can join us.”

Emma Parsons has been training dogs for more than 20 years, and specializes in managing and rehabilitating reactive dogs. She is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). Emma is a faculty member of Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training & Behavior, as well as a Clicker Expo faculty member. She is also the author of Click to Calm and Teaching the Reactive Dog Class as well as several best-selling DVDs.

This event is expected to fill up quickly so please RSVP to humaneeducation@baypathhumane.org to reserve your spot today.
