Greyhound Friends will hold a Hound Adoption Open House on Sunday, November 3 from 10:00am to 2:00pm
at 167 Saddle Hill Road, Hopkinton, MA.

Greyhound Friends has been finding homes for greyhounds for thirty years. Greyhound adoption and public
education about greyhounds remain our top priorities.. As greyhound racing dwindles in this country more
extraneous greyhounds are ending up with hunters who want to breed them with hunting dogs to make faster
hunting dogs........or faster sled dogs, etc. Greyhound Friends is and will continue to be a predominantly Greyhound
adoption organization. However we are widening our intake to include Greyhound crosses, hounds, and other dogs.
The shelters in the Midwest are flooded with dogs and the rescue people there asked Greyhound Friends to take
and place some greyhound crosses. Greyhound Friends receives some of these dogs but other hounds and hound
crosses as well. We are aiming to widen the base of support for our work as we place these dogs. In this way more
people learn about the plight of the greyhound.........

The hounds offered for adoption will participate at this Hound Open House. They have had all their vet work and are
in good health. Martha Palermo of New Beginnings Dog Training will be on hand to demonstrate some of the
training methods she has been using with the hounds at our adoption kennel.

The hounds and hound crosses are routinely discarded when they don't conform to expectations. Most all of these
dogs were picked up as strays and had little chance of adoption in the high kill Midwestern shelters. They are
intelligent, loving and goodnatured. The Hound Open House is an opportunity for the public to meet both hounds
who have been adopted and hounds who are here at the shelter waiting for their forever homes. Greyhound
Friends has an extremely large exercise field where visitors can play with dogs they are interested in.

Refreshments will be served.
