The Hopkinton Police Department is happy to announce that an elderly male party was located today after a report that he had not arrived back home from a walk. The Elderly Male was found with assistance of a Canine unit.

At 15:50 today The Hopkinton Police Department Communications Center received a call from the son of a missing 88 year old male. The male was reported missing after his wife called the son to report that he had not returned from his walk.

The wife became concerned after her husband had failed to return from his normal afternoon walk. The missing man’s son reported that the male had some medical issues, which made them concerned and that he typically walked the same route and returned in the same manner of time.

Police and Fire units were immediately dispatched to the residence. Police and Fire established a command post at the residence. The Hopkinton Police Canine Unit immediately responded to assist in the search. Additional resources were requested from the Ashland Police, Holliston Police, Milford Police K9, Marlborough K9 and the Massachusetts State Police K9, as well as the District 14 Tech Rescue team. All agencies dispatched personnel and K9 units.

The male was located at approximately 18:47 in a swampy area of town off of Linden Street, by a Canine unit. The area was difficult to maneuver and both Police and Fire worked hard to extricate the party from the area. Once removed the party was evaluated by Hopkinton Paramedics and then transported to Umass Memorial Hospital in Worcester.

According to Chief Bennett “I’m happy that the gentleman was found today and this incident serves as an excellent test of our combined response to serious incidents. Interagency and interdisciplinary collaboration is critical to delivery of service at this high level. Additionally, the level of response from the community was a demonstration of the partnership between public safety and the community of which it serves.
