In the Hopkinton Republican Town Committee Caucus on Friday April 8th, experienced candidates were nominated for town elected positions. Claire Wright was endorsed for Board of Selectmen, Henry Kunicki for Town Clerk, Tom Garabedian for Town Moderator, Eric Sonnett for Parks and Recreation, Nancy Kelleigh for Hopkinton Housing Authority, Philip Cohen for Board of Health and Cliff Kistner for Planning Board.
Sonnett, Kelleigh and Cohen are all running for re-election to their current positions.
Claire Wright is a very familiar name in Hopkinton town government having served 3 terms on the Planning Board and is on the Cemetery Commission, Historical Commission, and Design Review Board.
Henry Kunicki served on the Appropriations Committee, Zoning Board of Appeals and currently chairs the Community Preservation Committee.
Tom Garabedian has served on the School Committee, the Zoning Board of Appeals and as Commissioner of Trust Funds.
Eric Sonnett is currently on the Parks and Recreation Committee, Trails Committee, Irvine - Todaro Properties Advisory Committee, Community Preservation Committee, and Lake Maspenock Weed Management & Control Advisory Group. He is a former Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, DPW Commissioner, DPW Advisory Committee Chairman, Water and Sewer Commissioner, Conservation Commission member, Claflin Fountain Restoration Committee member, and served on several building and study committees.
Nancy Kelleigh is currently serving her third term on the Hopkinton Housing Authority.
Philip Cohen is currently serving on the Board of Health. He is a Medical Doctor and has building experience with working knowledge of septic system design.
Cliff Kistner is the only new comer to Hopkinton politics and he has been attending Planning Board and Zoning Advisory Committee meetings over the last year.
At the HRTC meeting that followed the caucus, the following officers were re- elected to the Hopkinton Republican Town Committee: Ken Weismantel, Chairman; John Coutinho, Vice Chairman; Phil Totino, Secretary, and John Ferrari, Treasurer.
