Dear Hopkinton Families,,

By now you all know about the tragedy that happened in Newtown, Connecticut today. As Superintendent and a parent it is hard to comprehend such an event. As parents you may be seeking information and resources regarding how to talk with you children. We respect your judgement in determining what you believe is the best most age-appropriate way to communicate with your children. Resources for parents can be found at the website of the National Association of School Psychologists and specifically here.

We want to assure you that the safety of your children in our schools is our number one priority. We have many protocols and safety measures in place throughout our schools and we work closely with the police department and other town departments through our Safety Committee. We will be reviewing all of our safety measures as we learn more about the tragedy. Additionally, we are making preparations for Monday to support your children as they return to school.

Sincerely,

Steven Hiersche, Ed.D.
Superintendent
