Dear Veterans and Friends:

Local veterans will be gathering for breakfast on 7 December 2018, at 0900 hours, at the Senior Center. In addition to great chow, there is top notch camaraderie.

Our comrades who passed away during November will be remembered, and the condition of those who are on "Sick Call" will be updated. It is encouraging that several veterans are generous with their time, and visit and/or send cards to our ailing buddies. More of us should do this. Keep up the good work!

A few comments after breakfast will recall memories of military events that previously occurred on December 7th; for example, in 1917, the USA declared war on Austria-Hungary with only one dissenting vote in Congress, and became the 13th country to do so.

Other announcements will keep you abreast of Hopkinton happenings relating to veterans.

A free breakfast and lunch will be awarded to the first person who correctly answers the monthly baseball quiz: what left-handed pitcher has the most wins as a Red Sox (listed alpha): Bill Lee, John Lester, Mel Parnell, Babe Ruth?

Hopkinton veterans with transportation difficulties should call Amy Beck on/before 5 December 2018, 508 497-9730. Please encourage other Hopkinton Vets to attend the breakfast.

American Legion McDonough-Carlberg Post 202 will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, and bless the meal.

See you Friday. Out.

It is necessary for us to learn from others' mistakes. You will not live long enough to make them all yourself.
