Interim Superintendent Search: Finalist Announced

By contributor,

The Hopkinton School Committee is pleased to announce that they have identified Dr. Steven Hiersche as a finalist for the position of Interim Superintendent of Schools for the 2012-2013 school year. Three semi-finalists, who emerged as the result of a screening process conducted by an Interim Superintendent Search Screening Committee, were interviewed by the School Committee over a two-day period (July 9 & July 11, 2012). The interviews of all three semi-finalists were broadcast by Hopkinton’s local cable station, HCAM, and are available for viewing at http://www.hcam.tv/government-meetings. Following the interviews and a discussion of all of the semi-finalist candidates, the School Committee unanimously selected Dr. Hiersche as a finalist. He will move forward in the selection process, the next step of which is a comprehensive reference check, as well as a meeting with the school district administrative team.

Dr. Hiersche holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Sarasota. He also holds Master of Education in Secondary Administration and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Westfield State College. He was recently the Superintendent for Framingham Public Schools, and previously served as Superintendent for Watertown and Plymouth Public Schools, as well as the Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union in Vermont. Prior to those positions, Dr. Hiersche held various principal and assistant principal posts. He began his career as a mathematics teacher in Enfield, CT.

After comprehensively reviewing Dr. Hiersche’s references, and considering the feedback of the school district administrative team, the School Committee plans to announce its decision on Dr. Hiersche’s candidacy for the position of Interim Superintendent of Schools at its scheduled working session on July 18, 2012.
