The Town of Hopkinton seeks a Network Systems Administrator

The Town of Hopkinton is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, highly skilled individual to join our IT Team to help support its community with ever-changing technology endeavors.

Under the direction of the Technology Director, this position analyzes, evaluates, designs, develops, implements, documents, supports and maintains, computer networking and telecommunication systems. The incumbent also installs, configures, and maintains both physical and virtual computers, servers, associated systems, and maintain the network, and VOIP systems. This positions will support a broad range of systems across many town buildings; Town Hall, Department of Public Works, Public Library, Senior Center, Parks & Recreation, Police, and Fire. You will also have the opportunity to play a role as Business Analyst and assist in streamlining operations and finding ways to leverage technology to gain operational efficiencies, process data, and disseminate information.

Qualifications:

Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, in Computer Science, or related field, and at least (3) three years successful hands-on network/computer/server support experience.

Experience with Google G-Suite in a corporate/office environment is strongly desirable. Admin panel, Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Docs and Forms.

Knowledge of personal computer operating systems (XP Pro/Windows 7/10), Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, VMware, Voice Over IP systems, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, wireless networking; information systems, local, municipal and wide-area networks, and wireless voice and data communications; programming methods and techniques and enterprise-wide telecommunications. Well rounded background in many facets of IT.

The ideal candidate will have at least (3-5) three to five years’ experience in increasing responsibility roles that encompass a wide breadth of technologies; high-volume help desk, desktop support, junior network/systems admin, etc. This position may also mentor junior level staff.

Ability to interact daily with users at varying technical competency levels, and mentor technicians. Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, juggling many tasks and requests across a large user base and to organize, prioritize, and complete a large volume of varying requests by a multitude of users.

A desire to learn new technologies and a willingness to apply problem solving and troubleshooting methodologies, and the ability to recognize and identify trends and develop solutions to avoid recurring issues.

Skilled in the use of hardware, software, networking, web technologies, telephony, wireless, database, audio/visual. Computer skills that encompass effective use of word processing, spreadsheet, project management, presentation, and mail and internet browsers software.

Preferred certifications: CompTia A+ and Network+, MCSE, MCSA, CCNA

Any experience with data analysis tools and/or Geographic Information Systems is a plus.

Hiring Salary Range: Depending on qualifications.
