In April, members of the Hopkinton Middle School Green Team were recognized at the State House for their efforts to make Middle School and the community a greener place. After receiving a Green Difference Award, students had the opportunity to meet with Representative Carolyn Dykema. Representative Dykema praised the team for its commitment to the environment and spoke with students about the importance of sustainable living.

May will be another exciting month for the Green Team. We will run a small electronics recycling drive. From May 6 – May 10, we will be collecting:

  • Cell phones
  • Ink jet cartridges
  • Graphing calculators
  • iPods and other mp3 players
  • Laptop computers
  • iPads and tablets
  • Digital cameras

The Green Team has teamed up with Funding Factory for the drive. Not only does the company promise that no item it receives will make its way into the waste stream, they have also offered to make a donation to HMS for each item received. Proceeds from the drive will be used to help fund future green efforts.

Thank you all for your continued support of the HMS Green Team!
