Norton Falls In Baseball And Softball

The Varsity Baseball team improved to 9-3 (9-3 TVL) with a 10-2 win at home over Norton on Wednesday, May 9. Sophomore lefty Nick Burns picked up his third win of the season, striking out 12 and allowing 0 earned runs in 6 strong innings of work. Senior Jason Cardillo threw a 1-2-3 7th to finish the game off. Hopkinton broke the game open early, striking for 3 runs in the first inning and 4 more in the second. Senior first baseman Tim Moberg hit a 2-run home run in the first inning to give Hopkinton a lead they would not relinquish. Senior catcher Craig Levergood and Sophomore second baseman Andrew McMillan had 3 hits for the Hillers, while Senior centerfielder Alex Hulme added 2.

The Hillers return to action on Thursday May 10 at 3:45 at home vs. Holliston. This game will be played in conjunction with Coaches vs. Cancer on the eve of the Relay for Life. The Hillers have raised nearly $1,000 to donate to the American Cancer Society, and will wear purple wristbands for the game in support of all affected by cancer.

Varsity Softball beat Norton yesterday 13-0. Alissa Karjel pitched a complete game shutout, and allowed only 2 hits.
Emily Jarvis hit a solo HR, while Jaclyn Foisy had 3 hits and 3 RBI.
Jenna Corsi also had 3 RBI.
