The October edition of the Massachusetts Medical Society’s Physician Focus television program on healthcare presents a discussion of common skin conditions such as melanoma, psoriasis, eczema, and acne – conditions so prevalent that their incidence exceeds those of obesity, hypertension, and cancer. One in three people in the U.S. suffer from some kind of skin disease that results in disfigurement, pain, disability, and even death.

“Common Skin Disorders” features two board-certified dermatologists from the Massachusetts Academy of Dermatology who will discuss what causes these conditions, how patients can protect against them, and how they can be treated.

Guests are Louis Kuchnir, M.D., Ph.D., the President of the Academy and founder of Kuchnir Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery in Marlboro, Shrewsbury, and Milford; and Pamela Weinfeld, M.D., a director of the Academy and co-founder of Dermatology and Skin Care Associates in Wellesley. Host for the program is Mavis Jaworski, M.D., a primary care physician in Beverly, Mass.

Physician Focus is one of the Medical Society’s primary patient educational efforts and is distributed to public access television stations throughout the state for broadcast in communities across the Commonwealth. It is also available for viewing online at www.physicianfocus.org.
