Deb Thomas, a member of the Planning Board, announced today that she is seeking a position on the Hopkinton Board of Selectmen.

“I am running for the Board of Selectmen because Hopkinton is facing critical challenges and opportunities that must be addressed, said Thomas. "The revitalization of our downtown and replacement of Center School are the key issues that challenge us today and have divided us as a community.”

Thomas feels that many Hopkinton residents were drawn to Hopkinton because of its great schools, rural/small town charm and reasonable taxes.

"How we handle the issues presently before us is key to our quality of life and Hopkinton’s financial future," said Thomas in her press release. "I have worked for over twenty years in the financial world and will utilize my financial leadership skills and high energy to improve the quality of education and community services.”

Thomas and her husband Kevin have lived in Hopkinton since 2000 and have two daughters, Caitlin and Ashley, who attend Hopkins and Elmwood School respectively. Deb is active in the Hopkinton community. She currently serves on the Planning Board and volunteers for many school related projects. In addition, she recently joined the board of the Hopkinton Running Club, and has been a Girl Scout Troop leader for a number of years. She is also an avid golfer, skier and runner who has run the Boston Marathon numerous times as well as the Reach the Beach Relay with her fellow Hopkinton runners. Deb is registered to run her 10th marathon this fall in New York.

Thomas holds a BS in Accountancy from Bentley University. Her professional career includes working at PricewaterhouseCoopers for over twenty years as a CPA and Business Development Executive. She presently works part time at PwC in a financial operations role and full time as a Mom. Deb has also worked in the private sector as Director of Financial Planning and Analysis for a company with revenue in excess of a billion dollars.

“I would be honored to be your voice on the Board of Selectmen. I am asking for your support and your vote at the May election.”
