Hopkinton, MA – South Asian Circle of Hopkinton Inc. (SACH) is a community based 501c3 non-profit organization founded in September of 2018 with a mission to bring together the collective strength, celebrate the culture and share the vibrant spirit of the South Asian diaspora of Hopkinton.
As part of our mission in building on the community’s collective strength and diversity, we decided to launch a campaign this year called Hopkinton Lights Up As ONE, calling on all residents of Hopkinton to celebrate the holidays as ONE.
Campaign for Hopkinton Lights Up As ONE

Primary message of the campaign is ‘Unity’
Holidays and Festivals form a lifeline that binds different cultures to a community. They connect and bring people together in celebration and service. Diwali is one such holiday that reflects and sustains the underlying pluralistic values for diverse people to co-exist harmoniously and thrive as a community. On this special and joyous day, we at SACH are eagerly looking forward to launching our campaign calling for unity in celebrating the holidays as ONE.

Lighting at the Town Common
There will be a physical lighting display at the Town Common with a 6x3 ft board (shown below) near the gazebo area. This will be displayed for 30 days and will be lit with programmable colored flood lights with a specific color aligned to a specific message that we plan to post on different days, accompanied by an artwork via social media.

We are creating a community alliance with fellow organizations and town committees including the Hopkinton Public Library, the Hopkinton Police Department, the Hopkinton Cultural Council and the Chinese Association of Hopkinton to share the messages and tag them to celebrate the holidays as ONE. We’re also partnering with the Hopkinton High School Diversity Club, Hopkinton Freedom Team and Hopkinton Youth and Family Services. These messages and posts will be published and tagged on Facebook, Instagram and the SACH blog.

We are asking all communities and small businesses of Hopkinton to join us and light lamps, tea lights or candles at home to celebrate the year end holidays as one big community. There are so many ways in which people light up their homes to celebrate the holiday spirit. It would be wonderful to see a diverse range of lights, from Christmas lights and luminaries to little candles arranged into a shape, paper cut luminaries, moroccan tea lights, Chinese paper lanterns and Diwali clay lamps. We hope that residents get creative with this and post photos of how they would light up to express ONENESS of the holiday spirit, tag us and hashtag their posts with #HopkintonLightsUpAsOne

As part of this campaign initiative, our partnership with the Hopkinton Freedom Team and Hopkinton Youth and Family Services is aimed at celebrating Diversity, Pride and extending our support to the LGBTQ+ community. Through this collaboration, we will be working together to offer opportunities for learning and having an open conversation on how to be a better ally for the LGBTQ+ community of Hopkinton, provided via OUT Metrowest (https://outmetrowest.org/).
Registration for the event can be found here and is open to all.
