Kathrine Switzer was born in Amberg, Germany in 1947. She is an American Author, Television commentator and a marathon runner who will be participating in this years Boston Marathon.

Kathrine Switzer is mostly known for being the first woman to run the Boston Marathon as a numbered entry. She took part in the race in 1967 and registered as K. Switzer and despite a race officle named Jock Semple attempting to remove her from the race during the marathon, she finished anyway and prooved the many critics at the time who thought a woman would not be able to finish a marathon wrong. Kathrine went on to win the New York Marathon in 1974 and place 2nd in the Boston Marathon in 1975.

Kathrine will be running once again this year. She is running in honor of the 50th anniversary of becoming the first registered female runner to complete the Boston Marathon and for her non-profit organization "261 Fearless". The "261 Fearless" foundation works to empower Women through running and hosts global clubs for Women runners. Kathrine stopped by Hopkinton High School and visited Student-Athletes and also met with Town officials at Town Hall. See footage of her day below.
