New Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services Canteen Truck Enters Service for 128th Boston Marathon

A new canteen truck staffed by trained Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) responders from the Massachusetts Division will enter into service next week for the 128th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 15 thanks to the donation of a generous donor.

Robert William Morris, 86, of Hopkinton, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family after a lengthy health battle, on Monday, April 8, 2024. Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Viola (Pielstick) and Chester Morris. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Painter) Morris to whom he just celebrated 63 years of marriage on March 11th.

Hopkinton Marathon Committee Selects Starters for Four Waves of 128th Boston Marathon

The Hopkinton Marathon Committee (HMC) has selected longtime HMC and Boston Marathon volunteer Jack LeDuc, retired Hopkinton Police Department officer Tom Griffin, 30 year Dell/EMC employee and Boston Marathon Volunteer, and Sharon Lisnow and Mary McQueeney, Founding Directors of the Michael Lisnow Respite Center as starters for the first, second, third and fourth waves of the 128th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 15. The Boston Athletic Association will announce the starters for earlier starts.

HCAM and HopNews Present 2024 Hopkinton Select Board Debate, Sunday April 28th at 4pm!

On Sunday, April 28th, HCAM with the assistance of HopNews will host our annual contested races debates live from our HCAM Studios starting at 4:00pm.

This years debate features candidates for (2) 3-year Select Board seats. This year's Select Board race features 4 candidates running for two available seats. Candidates include; Brian Herr, Joe Clark, Kyla McSweeney and Peter Mimmo.

HCAM News Director, Tom Nappi will moderate and ask questions along with Peter Thomas, HopNews Editor in-Chief.

Hopkinton Center for the Arts: Winged Foot Exhibition April 1st through 21st 2024

In Celebration of the 100 Starts of the Boston Marathon from Hopkinton, the 26.2 Foundation and the Hopkinton Center for the Arts are hosting a "Winged Foot" Art Exhibition and Auction.

Twenty-six artists (ranging from professional to student work) were selected to paint a winged foot to celebrate this momentous year. The feet will be displayed on Hopkinton Common near the marathon's start line from April 1 through April 21.

Virginia "Dinny" Potenza, 77

Virginia "Dinny" Potenza, 77, of Hopkinton, passed on peacefully surrounded by her family on March 29, 2024. Born and raised in Torrington, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Virginia (Karpetska) and Mitchell Alibozak. She was the beloved wife of Armand Potenza for over 53 years.
