Thank you to everyone who participated in our Casino Cocktail Party! We are delighted to announce that through the event, raffle ticket sales, and the on-line auction, we raised nearly $19,000!

The money raised goes toward innovative educational grants like Creating a Sound Engineering Studio; Active for Life; and iPads, E-Books, and Apps, Oh My! Check out our website for information on these grants and 285 other grants that the Hopkinton Education Foundation has funded since our inception.

Hopkinton Police Department Public Service Advisory: 2013 Boston Marathon

The 117th running of the Boston Marathon will take place on Monday April 15, 2013. The roads in Hopkinton will be closing at 7:30 AM Monday morning. The roads near the town common will be closed at 7:00 AM. Approximately 27,000 runners will be running in three different groups or waves. The time-line for the race is as follows:

Hopkinton Sustainable Green Committee Proposes Solar Project at Fruit Street

On Thursday, March 21 at 7:30PM at the Senior Center, Hopkinton’s Sustainable Green Committee invites residents to a presentation and discussion of their proposed Solar Energy Project at Fruit Street. According to their information sheet, the goal is to install a ground-based solar photovoltaic system that will significantly reduce the Town’s municipal energy spending by taking advantage of currently available state and federal incentives for green initiatives. Presentation is attached below.

Ann M. (Hession) McKenzie, 71

Ann M. (Hession) McKenzie, 71, died Friday March 15, 2013 at St. Patrick's Manor. She was the widow of John A. McKenzie, who died January 21, 2013.

Born in Galway, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late John and Nora (Kaven) Hession. She enjoyed painting, crocheting and arts and crafts. She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Presentation to Milford Selectmen Planned for March 18

Casino-Free Milford, a growing movement of Milford citizens concerned about the proposed development of a destination resort casino in town, is urging all Milford residents to attend Monday night’s Board of Selectmen’s meeting in Town Hall at 7:00 PM to learn about the damaging effects such a development could inflict on the community. Residents from surrounding communities are also invited.
