On Wednesday July 19th, Shawn Babineau pitched a gem for Post 77 as he pitches the complete game 7 inning shutout. He gave up 7 hits and had 4 strikeouts. Post 77 took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd, Tom Onsi sacrifices and Zach Pessin scores.

With 2 outs in the bottom of the 3rd, Post 77 struck for 2 more Ben Thomas drove in Ronan Bates with an RBI single to center field, Zach Pessin then reached on an error and that was followed up by a Louis Rossi single that scored Jackson Hornung and put Ashland up 3-0 and that would be the final run of the game.

Establishes essential protections and prohibits discrimination against pregnant individuals

BOSTON – The Massachusetts Legislature today passed the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which guarantees reasonable accommodations and safety measures for pregnant workers. The legislation makes it illegal for an employer to discriminate against, refuse to employ, or terminate an individual due to pregnancy or a condition related to pregnancy, including lactation or the need to express breast milk for a nursing child.

On July 14th, local Veterans met up at the Hopkinton Senior Center for the monthly Veterans Breakfast. Hopkinton Fire Chief, Stephen Slaman was in attendance at the breakfast and took some time to inform veterans of a safety program meant to help Seniors reduce the potential for an accident at home such as tripping or a medical incident.

The American Red Cross will be hosting a blood drive at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Friday, August 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This area is facing a critical blood shortage so new and returning eligible donors are encouraged to come, roll up their sleeves, and help ensure that lifesaving blood products are available for hospital patients. Donors with types O, B negative, or A negative blood are especially needed and encouraged to give a Power Red donation, if available.

A firefighters camp for girls between the ages of 14 and 19 called Camp Bailout took place for their 7th straight year at the Ashland Fire Department.

Since its first year in 2011 the camp has gained popularity among the local communities and has caught the attention of several media outlets throughout the years including the associated press, the christian science monitor and several local cable networks. More and more people have gained interest in the camps mission of encouraging more young women to become involved with fire and ems services.

Average temperature during the week in Hopkinton was 71.1 degrees. Humidity was at an average of 79.6%, the peak was 98% while the lowest was 34%. BILLERICA, Mass. – Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian welcomed members of the Legislature and their staffs to the Middlesex Jail & House of Correction on July 10 for a discussion of ongoing initiatives and programs.

The visit was organized in conjunction with the Legislature’s Harm Reduction and Drug Law Reform Caucus and was the first stop on a series of visits planned at correctional facilities across the Commonwealth.
