Zoning Advisory Committee Vacancies

The Planning Board is seeking residents interested in serving on the Zoning Advisory Committee. The Board is looking for residents who will be energized and committed to addressing various zoning related topics in depth, and committed to attending regular evening meetings generally from September through February. The Planning Board is looking forward to appointing a vital, creative and energetic Committee. The work program for the Committee will be developed following a Public Forum in the fall of 2016. Terms are for one year, and no prior experience is necessary.

The 3rd annual Keep Smilin 4 Abbie foundation Field Hockey event took place Saturday August 6th, the event featured 2 Field Hockey games, The games took place to benefit the Keep Smilin 4 Abbie Foundation. The foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization began operations in January 2014 after Hopkinton student and Field Hockey player, Abbie Benford passed away due to an anaphylactic reaction. The Foundation hosts numerous events for funds to raise awareness of anaphylaxis and to fund research. The event featured 2 games and 4 teams.

Celebrate the Jubilee of Mercy at Fatima Shrine

The Xaverian Missionaries at Fatima Shrine invite you to celebrate the Jubilee of Mercy in the spirit of the Beatitudes at Fatima Shrine Hall, 101 Summer Street in Holliston. Our next gathering will be September 11th beginning at 3:30 PM and concluding at 6:00 PM. The Eighth Presentation will be guided by Group of Refugees from Middle East - Massachusetts. The theme will be, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called Children of God”.

All are welcome. No charge and no reservations needed.

Donations are welcomed!

Lecture on Yoga August 17th at Senior Center

Shubhada Wavikar will present a lecture on yoga at 7 pm on Wednesday, August 17 at the Senior Center. Shuba will talk about the origin, types and branches of yoga, the mind - body - soul connection in yoga, and some research supporting yoga's health benefits. She will briefly touch upon postures, some breathing techniques, hand gestures, and meditation and mindfulness.
(Sound familiar? This event has been rescheduled from June 20, when we had to cancel due to illness.)

Video: Cycle City Grand Opening

Cycle City hosted their grand opening ceremony Monday (August 8th) the business officially opens Thursday August 11th and will bring spin and stationary cycling classes to Hopkinton. "The idea is you would come in and check in for about 45 minutes, you would leave your cell phones out, leave your thinking out.. you'll be burning anywhere from 500-1000 calories in 45 minutes, but the emphasis is not necessarily on the calories, the emphasis is on the safety and making sure you have a good time." Stated owner Nav Arora.

The Upper Charles Trail Committee, Hopkinton Area Land Trust and Hopkinton Center for the Arts is hosting the 2nd annual "Art on the Trail" at the Center Trail. Various works of Art can be seen along the trail starting at Lumber Street up until the High School. Artists feature: Michael Alfano, Geri Holland, Real Housewives of Hopkinton, Boy and Girl scouts, Lauren Scheuer, Betstann Duval, Holliston Robert Adams Middle School and others. The art will be on display along the trail until September 25th.

Cycle City Spins into Hopkinton

Cycle City hosted their grand opening ceremony Monday (August 8th) the business officially opens Thursday August 11th and will bring spin and stationary cycling classes to Hopkinton. The business is located at the 1 Lumber Street plaza right next to "The Spoon" restaurant. Find more info about Cycle City here.
