Earth Balloon Visits Elmwood School

By Stephanie Kane, News Producer

Students at Elmwood School recently took a journey to the center of the world. The program, sponsored by the HPTA, brought the world to life as Claudette Wile, a Program Facilitator at Minnesota-based company Earth Adventure, used a giant 20-foot high scale model of the globe called an Earth Balloon to teach the students all about the world around them.

One of the exciting aspects of the earth balloon was that it allowed the students to see the entire 360 degrees of the world from the perspective of Antarctica by actually getting to go inside the balloon through an opening in the back. Once inside, they learned about each of the seven continents and what features such as climate, bodies of water, and mountains make them unique.
