Heather's Ride Raises Over $12,000

By Stephanie Kane, News Producer

About 20 firefighters, police officers, and community members departed from the Hopkinton fire station July 13th to take a motorcycle ride to Meredith New Hampshire, where they would then take a 113 mile drive through the White Mountain National Forest. But this adventure wasn't just a joy ride, as it was part of the third annual Heather's ride, which is held in memory of Hopkinton High graduate Heather Seibert who passed away in 2009 at the age of 24 after an extended illness.

Money raised from the event went in support of the Heather Siebert Patient Support Fund at Boston Children's Hospital, and totaled over $12,000.

New this year, Heather's family started The Heather Lynne Siebert Memorial Scholarship which is awarded to a college-bound graduating senior who is living with a chronic illness. Heather's brother CJ Harris presented Andrew Perry with the $500 scholarship at this year's senior recognition night.
