Holden Mills Shaves Head for Charity

By Stephanie Kane, News Producer

On Saturday the 22nd, accompanied by several family members, Holden Mills had his long blonde locks shaved off at Razor's Edge. Going to Africa next month as part of the Peace Corps., Mills knew he needed to cut his hair in order to fit in culturally. His father suggested that in order to make the process more exciting, Holden should raise money in honor of shaving his head, and donate that money to a charity that supports Africa.

Mills, who had been growing out his hair for about 6 years, is not the first member of his family to shave his head for charity. His uncle, former selectman Lenny Holden, also did so at a 2004 HCAM telethon. Mills, who raised $1,000, surpassing his goal by $500, joked about one of the changes about having short hair, and was humbled by all of the support he has been given.
