The National Honor Society is more than just an honor roll. Scholarship, service, leadership and character are the four areas in which students must demonstrate outstanding performance in order to be accepted.
And on Monday, October 3rd, 91 new students were inducted into the National Honor Society at Hopkinton High.
As proud parents and family members gathered in the high school auditorium, the newest members of this group were welcomed onto the stage. Principal Alyson Geary opened the ceremony by welcoming and congratulating the new members and spoke about the 4 necessary qualifications with an emphasis on leadership.
The four officers of the society each spoke about one of the four qualifying characteristics and their importance.New members then pledged to maintain and encourage these standards before they were officially inducted.
After pledging, each new member was announced, congratulated by Principal Geary and signed the registry. With the 91 new members inducted this fall, there are now a total of 156 student members of the National Honor Society at Hopkinton High, representing yet another group of what Assistant Superintendent Mary Colombo calls servant leaders.
